Adding and Editing Content in an iTunes Section
Adding and Editing content in an iTunes section is easy. However, you must have a couple of things ready: content and a short description or metatags (more on this later!)
Content should be in one of the following formats: Audio MP3 or AAC, Video MPEG 4 (with H.264 compression). Content can also be a PDF file (this is useful to provide transcription, notes, and additional help via PDF for students, faculty and staff). For more help in how to convert current audio or video files as well as created PDF files please contact your program Information Technology Consultant or attend any one of the current Academic Technology workshops on campus.
***We recommend that you placed your podcasts, audio podcasts, mp3 files and pdfs for Sac State on iTunes into a single folder. This way you will find them easier when you are asked to select the files for upload.
- Log into itunes.csus.edu and launch Sac State on iTunes on your computer.
- Select your iTunes section by clicking on the title.

- Click

- A browser window like this one will open, with the tabs you created in the previous tutorial.

- Select the tab you wish to use for your upload and click on the Add Tracks icon.

- The window expands to give you the “Upload to ---- “ option, click on the choose file icon. Select the file you wish to upload and select the choose file option (varies on windows and mac!)

- Your upload begins and will notify you when you are done. You can repeat the upload process if you have more than one file to upload.

- You can choose to move uploaded files (or any file in any tab) to another tab. Select the tab, then the file to be moved, then go to the pull down menu “Move Selected Tracks to:” and selecting the name of the new location for the file.

- When you are done, select the Return to iTunes icon.

I noticed that my content has a “null” tag, how do I change this? You add a track information fields (or Metadata) to each file.
Track information fields or Metadata is a set of descriptors for a file that is embedded within the information area of the file.
To edit or add new Metadata to any file you can use iTunes to import the file, then get information on that file and edit the information content to reflect your authorship, and any other pertinent information you want to add.
At a minimum you need to have a file Name (this can be the track title, lecture name or speech name), the album (this translates to the course title), the artist (this is the instructor or author name), the genre (this is a broad category like president speeches, or visiting lectureships, or even just the institution name.) and any additional Comments you may want to add to the podcast, video, or audio file.
To Edit or add new metadata to a file, you will need to do the following:
